A few months ago I blogged about a wonderful experience I had in Shanghai involving a man with a head torch and a sharp blade. He used this to rid my heels of hard skin and he was so incredibly skilled at this and I was so incredibly impressed I wanted to tell the world.
You can get Everything in Sai Kung
I have now found that in Sai Kung there is an option of a Shanghai style pedicure at Sea Foot Reflexology House, 1/F, 60 Po Tung Road, 2791 0328.
Sure enough I was attended to by a lady with a chisel/blade and a very bright light who attended to my feet while I relaxed and flicked through recent copies of Hello magazine. Afterwards I was offered a foot massage and went away feeling truly attended to. $260 thank you very much.

NB
For accuracy I have to now add that this morning I am in pain! My left heel is so sore that I can't walk properly and have had to put a band aid over the sore patch so I can wear shoes. This is bad news and I withdraw my recommendation of the Shanghai Style pedicure...
Wow, that's shocking! I think for any pedicures where a blade is used, you need to see the credentials of the technician performing the treatment. Look for it on the wall of the salon, or ask for it. That shows they have been trained. It suggests (but does not prove) that they have at least a basic knowledge of salon hygiene. Otherwise, just being observant (or asking) about the techniques used for steralisation, and sanitation.
It sounds like you got a slight infection.
I know this is an old post, but the message rings true today. Choose your technician carefully.
There are indeed a number of very good quality places to get pedicures in Sai Kung.
Cheers!

The most important point to note is that there are no side effects of using Reflexology techniques and tools. Any one of any age whether it is male or female can use this forever.
I am happy that reflexology of the foot is talked about in hong kong. nice post and keep up the good work.

Only in Shanghai would you get your tough foot skin removed by someone sporting a head torch and weilding a sharp knife. Wowsers.

Lesley,
Your adventures are 2nd only to Gulliver's Travels :-)
HOwever, I couldn't help but shudder a bit at the thought of a sharp blade on your heels prior to your reflexology treatment. (shiver, shiver)
As a reflexologist, it's all about the hands-on-feet, pure and simple, yet quite profound (Ahhhhhhh...). It's wonderful you find time for the simple pleasures in life that benefit your whole being simultaneously. Thanks for an entertaining read.
